How do teachers find my own store? Print

  • 0

They find it because you send them. A store of your own has no marketplace search bringing strangers to your listings, so visitors come from your email list, Pinterest, blog posts and the followers you already have.

  • Your email list comes first. Offer one free resource in return for an email address, send it with a short welcome email, then send something helpful every week or two.
  • Pinterest. Pin a clear image of the resource in use, with a title that says what it is and which grade it is for, linked to that product's page and not your home page.
  • Blog posts. Answer the questions teachers type into a search engine, and mention the resource that helps near the end.
  • Followers you already have. Put your site and your freebie in the profile link on each of your own social accounts.

Use your own channels for this. Check TPT's rules before using TPT's messaging tools or listing pages to send buyers elsewhere.

Google Analytics is connected on every store, so you can see where your visitors and sales come from.

How long it takes

It is slow at first. The first few months are usually very quiet, with sales coming almost only from people you sent yourself. A seller with no list, no Pinterest and no blog should expect close to zero sales from a new store at the start. We can build the store. We cannot make the traffic appear.
