What should I do first with a new hosting account? Print

Start by deciding whether you are moving an existing site or starting fresh, because that changes the order of everything else.

If you are moving a site from another host

Leave your domain alone for now. Open a ticket and ask for the free move. Your site stays up at the old host until the copy here has been checked. See How does the free move to Up At Last work?

If you are starting fresh

1. Sign in to the client area and check that your first invoice shows as paid.
2. Open your plan under Services, then My Services, and click Log in to cPanel. See How do I log in to cPanel?

4. Create any mailboxes you want at your domain. See How do I create an email address at my domain?

Your SSL certificate, which puts the padlock in the browser, is issued for you once the domain points here. There is nothing to buy.
