What do you need from me to move my site? Print

  • 0

To begin, we need to know what the site is and where it lives now. Open a ticket with the details below, and we will reply with the access we need to take the copy.

  1. The address of the site.
  2. The company that hosts it now.
  3. The company the domain is registered with.
  4. Whether email at that domain is on the same host and should move too.
  5. Anything the site does beyond showing pages: a store, a membership, booking or contact forms.

Open a ticket to send these.

Your part during the move

  • Look at the copy. We send you a link to the site running here. Click through it and tell us if anything is off. Nothing is switched until you say go.
  • The domain change. At the end, the domain has to be pointed here. We give you the exact settings to change.
  • Hold off on big changes. Anything you add to the old site after we take the copy is not in the copy. If you need to keep posting or selling in the meantime, tell us so the switch can be timed around it.

What can be moved

The free move copies an existing site, such as a WordPress site, with its files, database and email. If your site is on a website builder that does not let you take a copy, open a ticket first and we will tell you what can be brought across.
